Kalpana is currently the Deputy Director, industry partnerships and Head of the Glycemic Index Research Unit at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore. She championed the design, planning and implementation of Singapore’s and the region’s first accredited Glycemic Index Research Unit (GIRU) and has completed many clinical trials in this area. She currently the Principal Investigator for many ongoing nutrition intervention trials and efficacy testing. She is the cluster co-chair for the Nutrition and Health-Tech Cluster, which is an initiative to drive applied research at the institution level. She has also been appointed as the expert advisor to Ministry of Health, Singapore in relation to sugar reduction from the sugar-sweetened beverages and the launch of the Nutri-Grade label. She is also the industry mentor for young entrepreneurs. Kalpana currently sits on the Por-Tem committee for novel foods and alternative proteins and the ACE consumer panel. She is the executive committee member of Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health (ANSSH).
